About Ohana-Villa Tobago

Ohana Villa is “a very special place”. ohana-cdbrochure-021.jpgA tropical house that has to be seen to be believed, Ohana-Villa is totally unlike any other property on the beautiful and peaceful little island of Tobago. It sits high up on the end of a small sandy cove and enjoys open and sweepingly dramatic views across the ocean. ohana-cdbrochure-009.jpg

Ohana is a Hawaiian word for family rest house. The owners of this very special house live very busy lives and conceived it as a haven of peace and quiet that they could escape to with family and friends to share some quality and simple back-to-nature time. ohana-cdbrochure-023.jpgNow they invite you to share its magic. On arrival, you’ll find the stressed city person disappears, the swim suits and pareos go on, and the pure ocean breezes begin to work their relaxing charms.

Kaye Tench after a lifetime of being involved in interiors, worked very closely with the architect, John Otway, to create from scratch, a very special place that would refresh the mind, as well as the body. ohana-cdbrochure-010.jpg Both house and garden are a work of art in progress, with continual improvements being made to what is already heaven on earth. The garden provides a feast for the eyes and the taste buds: fresh coconut water for making that special sunday morning brunch drink, rum and coconut water, continuous fresh limes for both cocktails and cooking, portugals, bananas, passion fruit, papaya, mangoes, guavas, pink grapefruit and other tropical fruits – p9070314.jpgadd to which we are beginning to pick fresh tropical flowers like birds of paradise, ginger lilies, ixoras, crinums, frangipani’s, plumbago, helliconias of all different sorts, hibiscus, and papyrus. p9080374.jpgThe herb and vegetable garden is also a work in progress with two types of thyme, a herb called shadon beni, thai basil, mint, tarragon, and chillies.
